Thanks for your test. But it still works at home. I really suspect a trouble 
in your python installation.

Can you open a python shell in a console and try this : 
import readline
readline.set_pre_input_hook()

It should not make any output. If you have an "Attribute Error" your python 
installation is broken (missing readline).
